Youth Band

Playing an instrument is fun!

The music club’s Youth Band is made up of around 15 children aged 9 and over. We meet every Friday and rehearse together with our youth conductor. What matters most to us in the Youth Band is the joy of music, sticking together, and reaching the goals we have set ourselves as a group. Everyone is warmly welcome!

What the Youth Band does

Sharing a passion – music – is what binds us all together. But the music club offers the children and teenagers who play in the Youth Band a great deal more:

The year begins after the Christmas holidays with our weekly rehearsals. This is where we work out and rehearse the new pieces for the spring concert in May and for other performances. In February we hold our rehearsal weekend away from Bissingen: the whole Youth Band travels to a youth hostel and spends the weekend there. We practise the pieces for the concerts intensively once more, and we also look at some music theory. Of course, there is plenty of free time together as well. We do all sorts of activities, and a variety evening is always part of it.

In May the music club holds its traditional spring concert, at which the Main Band and the Youth Band perform the pieces they have rehearsed.

As a send-off into the summer break, there is traditionally a closing outing just before the summer holidays. We go mini-golfing, for example. Afterwards we usually have a barbecue together with the Main Band.

The summer break ends with our performance at the Kelterhocketse (our autumn festival at the old wine press) in Bissingen. The Youth Band plays on the Sunday morning and then sells crêpes.

Then it is already time to prepare for the church concert, which takes place at the end of November. Once again the Youth Band joins the Main Band to give a concert in the Marienkirche in Bissingen. Every two years the Youth Band also takes part in the traditional Advent singing in front of the church in Bissingen.

At the end of the year we always have our end-of-year gathering, when the whole Youth Band traditionally goes bowling. Everyone always looks forward to it! It is a wonderful way to round off the year all together, before everyone goes off on holiday, ready to start the next year with fresh energy.

Every year there are also various smaller performances and other activities, such as adjudicated contests, performances at theme parks, baking biscuits together and much more.

Youth conductor

Natalie Blind has been the youth conductor of the Youth Band of the Musikverein Bissingen Teck since May 2022. She started playing the recorder at the age of 5, and from the age of 10 she also took flute lessons. She proved her practical and theoretical knowledge of music on the D courses (D1–D3) of the Blasmusikverband Esslingen and in music for her Abitur. Natalie Blind has been teaching the flute at the music club, with success, since as long ago as 2005. She is currently taking private conducting lessons and attending a conducting course.

Courses for young people

Every year the Kreisverband der Blasmusik Esslingen runs training courses for children and teenagers on two dates. They teach and practise the theoretical and practical basics of music. There are different levels of difficulty, namely the D1, D2 and D3 courses. At the same time, the children and teenagers get to know lots of musicians their own age, with whom they may share not only a love of music but other things as well. The music club pays half of the costs involved, so that its pupils can enjoy the benefits of thorough further training.
